DES MOINES, Iowa (Feb. 15, 2023) – The price of regular unleaded gasoline fell 3 cents, averaging $3.26 across Iowa according to AAA.

Crude Oil Summary

  • The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $.10 per barrel and is currently priced at $78.11.
  • Brent crude oil fell $.02 and is currently priced at $84.66.
  • One year ago, WTI crude sold for $92.07 and Brent crude was at $98.43.

Motor Fuels

  • As of Wednesday, February 15, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.26 across Iowa according to AAA.
    • Prices fell 3 cents from last week’s price and are 5 cents lower than one year ago.
    • The national average on Wednesday was $3.42, down 3 cents from last week’s price.
  • Retail diesel prices in Iowa were down 7 cents this week with a statewide average of $4.14.
    • One year ago, diesel prices averaged $3.69 in Iowa.
    • The current Iowa diesel price is 40 cents less than the national average of $4.54.

Crude Oil Summary

  • The price of global crude oil fell on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) this week by $.51 per barrel from last week, currently priced at $78.21.
  • Brent crude oil fell $.31 and is currently priced at $84.68.
  • One year ago, WTI crude sold for $89.36 and Brent crude was at $96.07.

Motor Fuels

  • As of Wednesday, February 8, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.29 across Iowa according to AAA.
    • Prices fell 5 cents from last week’s price and 2 cents higher than one year ago.
    • The national average on Wednesday was $3.45 down 5 cents from last week’s price.
  • Retail diesel prices in Iowa were down 8 cents this week with a statewide average of $4.21.
    • One year ago, diesel prices averaged $3.63 in Iowa.
    • The current Iowa diesel price is 39 cents less than the national average of $4.60.
